2012 NABR Series set to begin!
The 2012 NABR Series is set to begin!
This may be the most anticipated season in NABR Series history. Peter Krafcik is back to defend his title for a sixth consecutive, and final year. Peter said earlier this year that this would be his last year going for the championship.
But the question lingers, will Krafcik go out on top this year as the champion?
Many writers have said that Nick Kashi is the only threat to Krafcik's title run coming to an end. Krafcik and Kashi are best friends, and that means that they are willing to tell each other secrets about each other's track. But that is not the problem.
The problem is that Kashi's track is relatively useless to Krafcik. The only track that matters in the NABR Series is Krafcik Raceway. Why? Because the two most important races of the year are held there; The Langerford 500, and the NABR Series Championship Race.
With valuable information obtained from Krafcik, Kashi might have what it takes to defeat Krafcik this season once and for all. Every biker in this series has said that this sport will never see a feat like this accomplished ever again. And what makes Krafcik's feat even more impressive is that he is doing it in the most competitive era this sport has ever seen. There will never be competition quite like there is today ever again.
Krafcik, remains confident, even though he is getting older for this sport. When asked how he thinks he will do this season, he said "I'll get back to you after the Langerford 500." We asked Nick Kashi the same question, and he said "I believe that I am the sentimental favorite to win this season. I nearly beat him (Krafcik) last year. I just came up a half-a-foot short."
Another thing to consider this year is the rules that will level the playing field out. Re-start starting spots will be chosen at random, which could really change the complexity of things.
This may be Krafcik's 8th and final season, but don't think that that means he will move out of the way for anyone. If anything, it means that he just wants it more. He knows how it feels to stand on the podium and celebrate year after year in front of his arch rivals. He wants to go out on top, one last time, as the greatest champion this sport will ever see.
This is going to be the greatest season in NABR Series History!
2012 Season Format
The 2012 NABR Series season is going to be a little different format from usual.
In this upcoming season, there will be no more duel races. The NABR Series said that they ridded with the duel races because it did not bring in enough revenue to keep opening the tracks and renting them out just for a two person race.
Also in the upcoming season, you do not have to qualify for the championship race like you had to last season. The only requirement to make the championship race is that you have to have started a race earlier in the season, which there are six opportunities to.
Another change to the circuit is that this year, the championship race starting order will be randomly selected. This can majorly screw up the main fields chance in the race if they get caught in an early wreck with a no name biker. It has happened to Kenny Mackulin in 2008, and don't think that it won't happen again.
